This summer, Hippiefest returns for a 3rd year to celebrate the music and bands of rock’s most important decade; an age that would shape the musical landscape for years to come. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the summer of ‘68, a year that, according to Time Magazine “changed the world.” That is no less true for 68’s music than its politics and social revolution, so come take a trip back in time and experience musical pioneers like Jack Bruce of Cream; Eric Burdon & The Animals; The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie; Badfinger; Melanie; and Jonathan Edwards.

Tour creator Toby Ludwig explains to Billboard Online: "For years I've been wanting to put out a socially conscious show, because our times are similar to my childhood, which was in the '60s. There are so many concerts out there that don't make a social statement. It's important to be aware of who we are and what we're doing as a country," Ludwig says. "Sometimes the best way to do it is through a concert."

Hippiefest features several musicians who performed at the Monterey Pop Festival and the original Woodstock. The 22-date tour kicks off in Phoenix, AZ on July 11.

Hippiefest has been praised as “A taste of Woodstock without the mud and bad acid” (Miami Herald), "guaranteed to get boomers misty-eyed enough to fog up their bifocals" (Newsday). The NY Post simply declared, "No shoes, no shirt, no problem.”

A full line of flower power paraphernalia such as tie-dye t-shirts, skirts, caps, bags, stickers and posters will be available throughout the tour.

Hippiefest is produced by Toby Ludwig and Ron Hausfeld of Flower
Power Concerts, Inc.

Fans can expect to hear a variety of groovy classic favorites such as:

Jack Bruce of Cream- “Sunshine Of Your Love,” “White Room,” and “I Feel Free”

Eric Burdon & The Animals- “House of The Rising Sun,” “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood,” and “Bring It On Home To Me.

The Turtles (featuring Flo and Eddie)- "Happy Together," "She'd Rather Be With Me" and "It Ain't Me Babe"

Badfinger- "Come And Get It," "No Matter What" and "Day After Day"

Melanie- "Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)" and "Brand New Key”

Janis Ian- “At Seventeen,” “Society’s Child” and “Fly Too High”

Jonathan Edwards- “Sunshine” and “Shanty.”

Terry Sylvester Formerly of The Hollies- “Sorry Suzanne,” “ Just One Look,” The Air That I Breathe,” and “I’m Alive.”

I believe the bands probably were good, except that the terrible person doing the mixing made all of the bands sound bad. I am a musician in a band as lead guitar in the "suspect" band in Arizona and have been playing since I was 17. I am 59 now and have seen many bands in my life and really love these bands that played tonight. My wife and I both agreed that the mixer of the music evidently does not understand how to balance the vocals and the instruments. He had the vocals at an ear-piercing level at times and the guitars way off balance. Janis Ian was the only performer that actually had an excellent mix after she spent some time trying to tell the mixer what she needed to sound good. I'm not sure her mixer was the same as the others, as she sounded like her mix was done superbly. I really feel bad for all the others that played as they were butchered by their mixes. If they need a good mixer for the rest of the tour, I would be willing to mix for them as I think I could do them the justice they deserve.
